A Family Event: Pied Piper Workshop & Childrens Concert

Sat 1 Nov 11:00am at Birmingham Town Hall

Atarah and the Fizzy Flute Band invite children aged 3 – 10 to bring ANY instrument, even home-made ones and toys, to join them in rehearsing and then performing the story in music of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. A hands-on workshop/concert that will keep even the family fidget busy, tapping rhythms, booing the Wicked Mayor, cheering the Piper and squeaking with the Rats, while children play simple tunes and sound effects as the story progresses. No preparation necessary.

The concert lasts approximately one hour and then, after an interval, join Atarah in the foyer for a chat.

The ultimate hands-on, playalong, singalong, participation concert!

Bring an instrument of ANY shape or size to join in. Even the youngest members of the family can clap, sing,and march. Musical games and the story of The Pied Piper of Hamlin. Instrument quizzes (bring a pencil!).

Young guest stars demonstrating their specialities. Prizes for the best costumes – wizards, witches or fairies. And DIY instrument-making, face-painting and a steel band in the foyer!

Peter and the Wolf and other Musical Tails
A participation concert for children aged 3 – 13
at Barbican Centre on 4 November 2007
Concert starts 4 p.m. Foyer events start 2.45 p.m.

Atarah Ben-Tovim, MBE, has inspired three million children with her unique mix of education and fun at her live concerts. Children are invited to join in with the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by John Owen Edwards on a home-made percussion instrument or kazoo. Find out how a symphony orchestra works by joining one!

Everyone plays in extracts from Peter and the Wolf ,Carnival of the Animals, Flight of the Bumble-bee, Nutcracker Suite,Pink Panther, Ugly Duckling and much more.With Ely Flute Pie live on stage, dancers, animals and a quiz, there’s never a dull moment. Foyer events, including face-painting, making your own instrument and Richmond Youth Jazz Band, continue after concert, making this a fun and enriching afternoon for all the family!

Hi everyone we are finally back at the Barbican, woopee. A concert for all the family, children from three upwards. Bring homemade shakers, kazoos, and recorders.bring an instrument

We’ll be playing music like:

Prokofiev – Peter and the Wolf
Saint-Saens – Carnival of the Animals
Tchaikovsky – Nutcracker Suite, March of The Mice
Rimsky-Korsakov – Flight of the Bumble-bee
Rossini – Thieving Magpie Overture
Mancini – Pink Panther
and a marvellous menagerie of musical marvels and other musical tales.

Presented and narrated by Atarah Ben-Tovim with the National Symphony Orchestra and our conductor is John Owen Edwards

Concert lasts one hour approximately and there are free foyer activities 2.30- 3.30
